Hmmm… P2P isn’t as evil as the RIAA would have you believe
August 24, 2005 – 10:32 amIt seems even some elements of the music industry are coming to the conclusion that music sharing is inevitable and should be embraced and those that share should not be persecuted. Sony BMG has partnered with british digital music outfit Playlouder MSP to make its music catalog available online. It will be a subscription service and users will be able to exchange licensed music freely, in any bitrate they want, since a portion of the subscription fee goes to a pool which is divided amongst Sony and other artists.
Only issue is that Playlouder MSP will supply the broadband connection itself, and attempt to monitor leakages. Which is understandable but would be restrictive for some users. Well you can check Playlouder MSP out here.
The service will be UK only on launch so good for us brits, shit for those oppressed by the RIAA on the otherside of the pond.
On another note I bought my first CD in like ages this last weekend, the only artist worth buying a CD for Steve Vai.
