Heat problem..
October 2, 2005 – 1:31 pmWell yesterday I got a bit miffed at the P4 machine I got and the running temp, so I decided to do something about it. I took a trip onto TCR and got myself a Asetek Vapochill Micro, heard some good things about it.. When it came to fitting I pulled off the Zalman I had on there and found out the reason why it was getting hot. The Zalman was very heavy, so much in fact that as the mainboard is vertical the weight makes the Zalman lift off the CPU a little.
The Vapochill Micro is a lot lighter than the Zalman and it is sitting much better on the CPU and the temperature is far better, instead of an idle temp over 50 degrees it is sub between 40 and 45 degrees and under load instead of over 60 degrees (sometimes as high as 70) it ticks along around the 54 degree mark.
At the same time I got a LianLi PC-V1000 Plus case which inside the separate the disks, PSU and mainboard and you cool each section separately. Looks nice and seems to help with the overall case heat inside.
