Been a busy week
December 4, 2005 – 11:41 amBeen a really hectic week, was on a job in Reading out at the Thames Valley Park. Traveling up each day is hard work, by Friday I was so glad that bit was over. Pretty slow week work wise, really basic job nothing special. But none the less it is work..
Was fighting all week Scan’s Today Only offer of the Dell 20 Widescreen monitor for 315 quid, finally caved on Thursday and had to order. So I did.. It came on Friday and it is a sweet monitor, 4 inputs, 1600×1050 resolution and a usb hub. So my old Sony monitor has been replaced with it and now has been migrated to a new monitor arm on the desk next to the Dell to be used with the Mac Machines. Which is cool because it makes it more comfortable for me to use the Mac and the PCs at the same time.
Last week I got a new Logitech Mx510 because the new version of Star Wars Galaxies killed my old Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer (too much clicking). Got it home, then quite quickly found out that it doesn’t work very well with my Belkin KVM, as in when you switch machines half the mouse functions disappear. So yesterday I bought a replacement hoping it would work, this on a Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000, got it home last night and that fails to work too. I’m seriously thinking this could be a KVM issue going forward, I’m thinking that investing in a new KVM will help long term as increasing new input devices are going to have problems with my now 4 year old KVM.
There a couple that I like the look of, one is an IOGear one the other an Avocent. I’ve used Avocent before and they are good kit.. But normally quite expensive.
