Keeping Time…

Up to a year or so ago I always worn a watch, to the point I have a really nice original Breitling that I bought for myself with the money I got when I left PwC. However in the recent past I’ve stopped wearing a watch, in fact it is more of a I hate wearing a watch I no longer find wearing a watch comfortable.

So I started to carry the watch in my pocket, problem was the Breitling being a self winding watch would stop because in my pocket it would not get the right amount of movement to wind it properly. So a couple of weeks ago I decided, seems dumb having a wrist watch in my pocket so why not get a proper pocket watch. So instead of going and buying a new one I decided to go retro, so after browsing eBay I found some, got three as a job lot, Ingersoll pocket watches, one is an Ingersoll Yankee sometimes I believe known as a Dollar Watch this one was made circa 1929 and still keeps good time, then we have an Ingersoll Triumph made in the UK around 1953 and then finally another Ingersoll much newer than the other two.

It is quite amazing really two of this watches are over 50 years old and they are running like new… They don’t make stuff like that anymore…
