Mac Mini Fixed
May 26, 2007 – 8:10 pmA while back one of the mac mini cluster bought the farm as it where, it seemed at first it was a little more fatal than it actually was. Today while tidying I found an original Mac Mini Hardware test CD so on the off chance I tried it with the broken mini. Low and behold it turned up what was wrong, it seems that the internal HD was FUBARed.
Now it was odd because the mini could start but just get a blank grey screen with the dead disk in there, it wouldn’t boot off a firewire disk and the Mac install CD wouldn’t boot, but the hardware test CD would. Very strange…
So bish bash bosh, one new HD later and a quick install of OS X the machine was back up and running. Which is cool because it has been tasked as my replacement music server, you gota love iTunes music sharing…
