About
This is Stephen’s world, its a simple place where not much happens and no one gets murdered in their sleep.
Well I’m Stephen Kapp and this is my little niche on the Internet. I have been about on the net since about 1989 or so in one form or another. Hell I was here before long before AOL.
So I’m going to tell you a little about myself, I’m thirty something years old and live and work in the UK. I hate most things Microsoft, love Manchester United FC (unlike most MUFC fans I’ve been to Old Trafford), Rock Music (mainly Bon Jovi and Steve Vai), Computers, Gaming, Surfin’ the Net, and finally my family Liza & Kristina.
So where do I work? Well I work in the IT Security Industry mainly doing Security Assessments aka Ethical Hacking, Penetration Testing, etc. I used to run my own company Reaper Technologies, a company I started in 1995 and ran till 1999. Reaper Technologies did some security consultancy and bespoke development, after I left and handed over the reins it carried on to do bespoke development work.
My involvement in Reaper Technologies ended when I moved to Corporate Land working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the UK. I was a key member of their Attack & Penetration Team, performing/managing ‘Pen Testing’ assignments, Security R&D and IT Security Consultancy.
In November 2002 I left PwC, after a few months doing my own thing again I joined @stake in the Summer of 2003, alas @stake was acquired by Symantec in late 2004, I stayed at Symantec until October 2006.
So after a short period out of the IT Security world after leaving Symantec, taking a back seat and having a rest I joined SecureTest a specialist Security Assessment company based in the UK. I’m back doing security assessments as a senior member of the what is now one of the largest teams doing this sort of thing in the UK.
So where do I live, well up until the beginning of 1998 I lived in Dunsop Bridge, Lancashire. I then moved to Shepherd’s Bush in West London, until I moved in April 2003. I now live in a very nice place in Fulham with Liza, which overlooks the river Thames next to the Fulham FC ground Craven Cottage.
I’m also the creator of RSAEuro an RSAREFTM compatible alternative for use outside the North America. Development on this pretty much ended while I was at PwC, though there is a version with loads of stuff that just didn’t get released lurking about in my source control system. I also run the Virus.Org news site, acting as editor, chief coder and filter of spam.
